Aaron Ramsdale has been absolutely pivotal for Arsenal in key moments this season.
In fact, there was good reason to believe that the entire trajectory of Arsenal‘s campaign would be decided by their crunch fixtures with Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
So, to say that Arsenal came out of those games with six points out of six is a massive credit to the Premier League title credentials of Mikel Arteta’s squad.
And when the Gunners needed Ramsdale, he was there, reiterating that all good title challenges are built on the foundation of a top-class goalkeeper.
For starters, the England international put on a Man of the Match performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, making a phenomenal seven saves on the way to keeping a clean sheet.

And while his display against United might not have been as complete, he still came up trumps for his teammates in a truly critical moment of the game.
With the Red Devils piling on the pressure in the second-half, Ramsdale showed lightning-fast reflexes to make a save down to his left-hand side to stop Marcus Rashford from bagging a brace.
With Eddie Nketiah later going onto score a dramatic winner, the Arsenal goalkeeper’s heroics helped to secure a crucial 3-2 win that saw the north London club move five points clear at the Premier League summit with a game in hand.
And anyone who knows what Ramsdale is like on a football pitch will know that he will have been absolutely loving life.
In fact, some fans might have noticed that the 24-year-old pulled out a slightly unorthodox celebration when it came to the absolute ecstasy of Bukayo Saka putting Arsenal 2-1 up.
Broadcast footage showed that Ramsdale revelled in his compatriot’s screamer by putting his two gloves on his forehead and motioning as though he was moving his hair apart.
But what was that all about? Well, it turns out that Ramsdale was actually fulfilling a promise with footage from a soon-to-be-released episode of ‘The Fellas’ podcast giving an insight into the Arsenal hero’s elite mentality.
That’s because Ramsdale asked YouTubers ‘Calfreezy’ and ‘TheBurntChip’ for something to do when, in his words, ‘we win this weekend’.
Yes, that’s right, Ramsdale was only speaking in terms that Arsenal wouldwin against United and therefore asked the podcast hosts for a motif that he could do in order to celebrate.
And with ‘Calfreezy’ duly referencing a photo where his co-host had rocked a questionable curtains haircut, the idea was born that Ramsdale would duly reference it by celebrating with a cheeky parting of his hair.
So while it’s ultimately just a bit of a gag from the middle of a podcast, it’s also a first-rate example of just how much of an elite mentality Ramsdale has between the sticks for Arsenal.
It’s not arrogance either because you can really pick up in Ramsdale’s tone that he’s not blasé about Arsenal beating United, but rather so fired up to make it happen that he can’t imagine a world in which it doesn’t.
‘TheBurntChip’ might have wished that didn’t manifest itself in the form of a cheeky dig about a former haircut of his, but at least it helped Arsenal draw the curtains on a magnificent win. Sorry, that was a shocker.
