Arsenal are weighing up another transfer raid on Chelsea with Noni Madueke a name under consideration this summer.
Mikel Arteta wants to bring in at least one wide player this summer and Madueke has emerged as a potential option.
The 23-year-old has struggled for an automatic role at Chelsea, where competition for places has been increased by the arrival of Estevao Willian and imminent signing of Joao Pedro.
Madueke scored seven times in the Premier League last season and has broken into the England set-up. The winger was among the positives of June’s international break, impressing under new head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are yet to make an offer for Madueke, but he is a player under consideration. Having struggled to replace Bukayo Saka during his injury absence last season, Madueke would provide competition and cover. However, he is likely to want assurances over his playing time ahead of any transfer given next summer’s World Cup.
Madueke joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of £27.5m in January 2023. He joined the Dutch side at 16, after spells in the academy systems of Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur.
Arsenal’s interest in Madueke comes amid regular recent transfer activity with Chelsea. The Gunners signed Jorginho and Kai Havertz from their London rivals in 2023 and are also closing in on a deal to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from the Blues. A £5m fee has been agreed for the Spanish goalkeeper.
