Arsenal add Lyon’s Malick Fofana to shortlist | OneFootball

Arsenal have added Olympique Lyonnais forward Malick Fofana (20) to their shortlist, ahead of the closure of the transfer window, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Lyon have already sold key players this summer. Rayan Cherki left early in the window to join Manchester City, whilst the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Perri, Jordan Veretout, and Nemanja Matić have also departed.

Paulo Fonseca is desperate to keep Fofana, however. The Belgian was an integral part of the squad last season, but amid Lyon’s continued financial difficulties, an extra €40m must be raised before the closure of the window. That is the exact valuation of Fofana, who has already been the subject of an offer from Everton. The Belgian has already turned down the Merseyside club.

There is now interest from a higher calibre of club. As per L’Équipe, Bayern Munich and Arsenal have added the forward to their shortlist and could make their move in the final days of the transfer window.
