Last week saw five Manchester City players withdraw from international duty. Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Matheus Nunes and Manuel Akanji all were deemed unfit to play for their countries. Their withdrawal from international duty allowed them to get some much-needed rest. Bernardo Silva was one of several City players who have turned out for their countries over the international break. But following Portugal’s 5-1 win over Poland Bernardo Silva will now return to Manchester. That is welcome news for the world champions.

Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that Bernardo Silva is one of several Portuguese players to return early from international duty. The others named by Romano are Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Pedro Neto. With Portugal having secured their place in the Nations League quarter-finals, Roberto Martinez is taking up the opportunity to play other players in Portugal’s next fixture.
