Alisson Becker is set to spend at least the next month on the sidelines after sustaining a suspected hamstring injury.

The Reds defeated Crystal Palace 1-0 at Selhurst Park on Saturday, but the Brazilian goalkeeper was forced off the pitch late on.

The 32-year-old went down after awkwardly clearing the ball and hit the ground in anger. With Caoimhin Kelleher absent due to illness, Vítezslav Jaros came on in the 79th minute.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed after the final whistle that Alisson will miss the side’s difficult fixture run after the international break. They will face Chelsea, Leipzig and Arsenal before the month is out.

Injury update on Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson

“The fixtures are difficult, but I have felt how difficult Wolves and Palace are away,” the Dutchman told TNT Sports. “It is good that we have won these games and it is up to us to show ourselves in the big games.

“Unfortunately Alisson will not be with us in these matches with how he walked off the pitch.”

Jaros, who spent last season on loan with Sturm Graz, maintained Liverpool’s clean sheet in his senior debut for the club. Slot praised the Czech goalkeeper for a “really good” performance.

“He had a good season and he won the league and cup with the team in Austria,” he said.

“He wanted to go [back this season] and have playing time. We said at a club like this we need a good third goalkeeper as well.

“It was a nice moment for him to make his debut for Liverpool.”
