£2M? Rangers STILL do not know what Connor Barron will cost

Despite us being deep into November, Connor Barron’s tribunal still has not been held as the dispute between Rangers and Aberdeen rumbles on.

That the midfielder was signed in June yet Rangers are nearly in 2025 still without any idea of how much he’ll cost is the usual level of Scottish Premiership incompetency that plagues the game north of the border.

What is clear is that the longer it has taken to resolve this, the more Barron has played, ergo the more Dons’ chiefs will be able to attempt to persuade the panel of his higher value.

It had been proposed at £400,000 but Aberdeen rejected Rangers’ offer, believing Barron to be a minimal seven-figure value player, and going by their successes with Lewis Ferguson and Bojan Miovski not to mention Calvin Ramsay all going for a combined £15M, the Dons will be expecting an ample number in compensation for Barron.

Rangers could be looking at £2M+ for the midfielder, but as for when the tribunal will materialise, no one knows.

Don’s chief Alan Burrows said:

“This situation has dragged on too long, in my opinion. I am happy to say that. All I can say is I hope it won’t be too much longer. I think it should be a catalyst for us to have a better process when it comes to players who go out of contract then move to another club within the same league who can’t then come to an agreement on what the value should be on the cost recovery. It has been a long process, it has been a time consuming process, it has been something that has taken up a lot of management, staff hours and money to try and get to the point where we are.”

And yet here we are, 6+ months later and we still haven’t resolved it.

Very poor from the SPFL indeed.
