The 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League season kicks off on Sunday 1 October, featuring games at Emirates Stadium, Stamford Bridge and Villa Park.

Aston Villa and Manchester United are first up at 12.30pm, the visitors being without new signing Emma Watson who suffered an ACL injury playing for Scotland.

Everton entertain Brighton, with Megan Finnegan the Toffees’ new captain, while academy graduates Abby Clarke and Annie Wilding have signed their first professional contracts with the Blues.

Arsenal have exceeded 5o,000 in ticket sales for the visit of Liverpool, but preparations have been marred by a second ACL injury for the Gunners’ unfortunate Teyah Goldie. The visitors will be missing ne signing Sophie Roman Haug, who suffered facial injuries on duty for Norway.

Bristol City make their top-flight return against Leicester City at Ashton Gate, ahead of which the Robins’ Tianna Teisar signed her first pro deal.

West Ham United welcome Manchester City for a 3pm start, with the Hammers offering a special joint programme for their men’s and women’s matches this weekend.

Reigning champions Chelsea taking on Tottenham Hotspur in the late kick-off, with Bethany England appointed Spurs’ new skipper.

Teams in the Barclays Women’s Championship have already played four games and match day five was scheduled to begin on Saturday, but Sheffield United’s fixture has been postponed due to the tragic death of Maddy Cusack.

Current leaders on goal-difference, Southampton, play Birmingham City, while second-placed Blackburn Rovers head to Lewes.

Sunderland have yet to lose and host Watford, while Durham face Reading and there’s an all-capital clash between London City Lionesses and Charlton Athletic.
