🏟 Full capacity stadiums set to be allowed in England for new season | OneFootball

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that full capacity stadiums will be allowed in England for the start of the new season.

This comes as the country is set to ease the majority of social distancing restrictions in place due to COVID on July 19, when England enters ‘stage four’ of its roadmap out of lockdown.

Which means it’s expected that the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two will be allowed to welcome fans back without restrictions when the 2021/22 campaign kicks off in August.

Fans will be allowed to enter the stadium if they produce a negative test and there will be no requirement on social distancing.

Official confirmation will come on July 12 that the plan to lift restrictions a week later will be given the green light.

The last game to be played in front of a full house was Leicester’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa in March 2020.

The majority of last season was played behind closed doors although every Premier League team welcomed a number of supporters back for their final home game of the 2020/21 season.

Euro 2020 has seen a consistent return of supporters to matches, with every stadium allowing a percentage through the door during the tournament.
