David Silva reflects on a career that exceeds ‘wildest dreams’ as Man City stay edges towards an end | OneFootball

David Silva has admitted that his hugely successful career has exceeded his ‘wildest dreams’, the Man City legend preparing to bring down the curtain down on his 10 year stay in the Premier League.

The Spaniard has amassed an impressive medal collection during his playing career, winning the Premier League four times, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and that’s not to mention his World Cup and two European championship winners medals during his international exploits.

Man City‘s game against relegated Norwich on Sunday is set to be 34-year-old’s 309th and final Premier League appearance, and the man affectionately nicknamed ‘Merlin’ by the City faithful has reflected on his achievements.

“When I look back at everything I have achieved I could never have imagined it, even in my wildest dreams,” Silva said, as per the Guardian.

“When you are young you don’t dream about all of this. You dream about becoming a footballer, a professional footballer, you dream of playing in the top flight. But you never think about all the things that you could possibly achieve.”

Silva took a little while to settle into the rigours of the Premier League, but has since gone on to prove himself as one of the finest and most creative players the division has seen, registering 93 league assists to leave him sixth on the all-time list, just one assist shy of Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.

“I arrived here having just won the World Cup,” he said. “It was a change in country, league, language and everything was quite tough but my teammates welcomed me and really looked after me and after a few months I settled in.

“I have always tried to do my absolute best, to always behave well and I have tried to work very hard too. I hope that people have enjoyed my football for all of these years.”
