Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi are seeking reinforcements in three particular departments during this summer’s transfer market.

The new Serie A champions have already secured agreements with Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi. The Polish midfielder and Iranian striker will join as free agents after seeing out their contracts with Napoli and Porto respectively.

But according to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri believe they still need three more additions to become competitive on all fronts.

Inter will be looking to defend their Scudetto crown next season. They will also be hoping to go far in the Champions League. Moreover, the club will take part in the inaugural edition of the expanded Club World Cup.

Therefore, Simone Inzaghi wishes to have a strong host, with at least two solid options for each playing position.

As the source tells it, the management is working to sign a new goalkeeper, with Bento emerging as the favorite.

Yann Sommer should remain as first choice, but Inter aren’t willing to spend 7 million euros to buy Emil Audero from Sampdoria.

Therefore, the Brazil international could arrive as a replacement for the Italian custodian.

The second department that the club wishes to bolster is the defense. Torino star Alessandro Buongiorno would be the dream signing, even his price tag (40 million euros) remains a major obstacle.

Finally, the Nerazzurri would like to further enhance the attack with a technical player. Genoa’s Albert Gudmundsson would be the ideal choice, but like Buongiorno, he wouldn’t come cheap.

As for Inzaghi, he has reportedly asked the management to keep his main host – consisting of his 16-17 key players – intact for next season.

The club directors share the coach’s view. Therefore, they will be looking to raise funds by selling some of their loaned-out players and offloading the deadwood.
