2022/23 Champions League finalists Inter will be eager to extend their streak of four straight victories when they visit Young Boys in Europe's premier competition on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri played a repeat of the final they lost two seasons ago on matchday one, this time securing a goalless draw with Premier League champions Manchester City. That result was followed by a 4-0 thrashing of Red Star Belgrade and two subsequent Serie A victories over Torino and Roma have boosted confidence levels in Milan.

Inter have a tricky home fixture with Juventus to come in the Derby d'Italia this weekend and Simone Inzaghi may be tempted to make a few alterations to his team in Bern.

Young Boys have made a disastrous start to the campaign both domestically and in Europe. Just two Swiss Super League victories leaves them tenth from 12 sides and 3-0 and 5-0 defeats to Aston Villa and Barcelona respectively mean they finished matchday two at the bottom of the pack in the Champions League.

Interim Young Boys head coach Joel Magnin is without Facinet Conte, Saidy Janko, Tanguy Zoukrou and Patric Pfeiffer for the visit of Inter but managed to engineer a 2-1 victory over Luzern without the quartet at the weekend.

Sandro Lauper was suspended for the win but could return to the starting XI on Wednesday night and the onus will be on the in-form Portuguese forward Joel Monteiro to score Young Boys' first league phase goal of the season given he's netted four in the Super League.

Inter could well rotate for their visit to struggling Young Boys but several changes may be enforced. Both Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi were withdrawn with injuries during the 1-0 win over Roma, with the former lasting just 12 minutes and the latter 27 minutes.

Neither are likely to be risked in the Swiss capital and join midfield duo Piotr Zielinski and Kristjan Asllani in the treatment room. Both are closing in on returns but could miss out midweek, while Tajon Buchanan is touch-and-go for the trip to Switzerland.

Mehdi Taremi and Marko Arnautovic could forge a partnership up front to offer Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez a rest ahead of the Juventus clash, while Carlos Augusto, Yann Bisseck and Davide Frattesi could all come into the starting XI.

Inter showed both their depth and quality in the 4-0 win over Red Star Belgrade and their peripheral figures will be aiming to impress Inzaghi. With a stubborn defensive unit, energetic midfield and experienced forward line, the Nerazzurri should ease past Young Boys with little fuss.
