Ruhr Nachrichten reports that Borussia Dortmund right-back Yan Couto aims to establish himself in the team this season.

Couto struggled in his first season in the Bundesliga due to his main position being as a right-wing back, which Dortmund didn’t play for a large part of the season, and when they did, Julian Ryerson was preferred.

The Brazilian even went on record to say how he has struggled during his first season in Germany.

Nevertheless, despite his recent comments, Couto wants to establish himself in the Dortmund squad this upcoming season. However, if the 23-year-old continues to underperform this season, then die Schwarzgelben will reconsider his place at the club either in the winter or next summer.

Couto joined Dortmund from Manchester City for €20m following a two-year loan spell with Girona in Laliga where he played a key role in them qualifying for the Champions League in 2023/24. That season, he played 34 LaLiga games, scoring one and assisting 10 times. So far at Dortmund, he has played 35 games and assisted once, in his first game for the club against phönix Lübeck in the DFB Pokal.
