Xavi speaks out on Robert Lewandowski’s angry reaction during Barcelona vs Sociedad | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Xavi has provided his take on the angry reaction of frontman Robert Lewandowski to being hauled off prematurely in the club’s most recent outing.

Barca, of course, marked their return to action on Monday night.

In the knowledge that an eventual victory would see them climb back clear of Girona into 2nd in the La Liga table, the Blaugrana welcomed Real Sociedad to Montjuïc.

And, when all was said and done, work their way back up the standings in Spain’s top-flight is precisely what the Catalans managed.

As much came by way of goals on the part of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, en route to a 2-0 result.

And yet, whilst, all told, it proved a positive evening’s work for Barcelona on Monday, one high-profile member of the club’s attacking ranks was left looking less than satisfied.

This came upon Robert Lewandowski’s 2nd-half withdrawal from proceedings being met with an angered reaction on the part of the Pole.

Amid a late-season push for the Pichichi award, ‘Lewa’ looked less than impressed with his manager upon seeing his jersey number flash across the fourth official’s board.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of precisely as much was put to Xavi himself.

And the Spaniard went on to simultaneously defend Lewandowski, and reiterate that he is the man in charge:

“I understand Lewandowski’s frustration after being subbed out. I didn’t like to be subbed out either, but we’re the managers. We’re here to decide.”
