WSL: Aston Villa sign England U23 midfielder Lucia Kendall on free transfer | OneFootball

English midfielder Lucia Kendall has signed a contract with Aston Villa on a free transfer following the expiry of her deal with Southampton. She will link up with her new teammates ahead of the 2025/26 season.

This transfer signals another bold move from Aston Villa, who are continuing to strengthen their side ahead of the upcoming Women’s Super League season.

From Winchester, England, the talented midfielder started her youth career at Winchester City Flyers before joining Southampton’s Regional Talent Club and graduating from the academy. Kendall has played for the senior team at Southampton since 2020. She made more than 100 senior appearances for Southampton.

Kendall was a key contributor throughout Southampton’s 2021/22 campaign, scoring 22 goals in 27 matches. She also netted twice in the National League Cup Final, which helped them secure promotion to the Women’s Championship.

Kendall also has an impressive international career already under her belt. She is a regular for England U23s and the youth international has also represented her country with the U15s, 16s, 17s and 19s. One of her most notable achievements include netting two goals at the Algarve Cup in November 2022 for the U19s and her debut goal for the U23s in December 2024 against Sweden.
