There were some great comebacks in women's football across Europe's top five leagues this weekend.

Here's the best of what happened.

🇪🇸 Real Madrid made to fight, Atleti stunned by late comeback

Second-from bottom Deportivo La Coruña faced a mountain to climb against Real Madrid on Saturday, and they did manage to give Los Blancos a scare before succumbing to a 4-1 defeat.

Francisca Lara gave Dépor a shock lead after 36 minutes, and the minnows held on to that lead until Olga Carmona levelled the scoring on 79 minutes.

That was the first goal of the season for the 34-year-old Chilean midfielder.

There was another shock to be had for third-placed Atlético de Madrid too.

It was business as usual at the start of the match as Brazilian Giovana Queiroz netted her second of the campaign to put Atleti ahead over Real Betis after just six minutes.

And what a goal it was.

But 11th-placed Betis rallied and got themselves back on level pegging through Carolina Férez on 75 minutes.

Their pressure paid off with four minutes of normal time remaining when Naima García delivered the late winner.

Barcelona completed the weekend with a narrow win over struggling Valencia, a Frida Rolfö penalty the only difference between the two sides. Nonetheless, they retain a huge 11 point lead at the top of Liga F.

🇫🇷 Dumornay and Katoto leading the line perfectly for their sides

There's really no stopping Haiti international Melchie Dumornay right now.

Her second brace in as many weeks helped Lyon to a 5-1 victory over Nantes, leaving her with ten goals in nine league outings this season.

In fact, the last time she failed to score in the Première Ligue was back on November 3rd in a 1-0 loss to PSG.

One of the most in-form players in the women's game right now.

Another player on a hot streak this season is PSG striker Marie-Antoinette Katoto.

The France international fired in a brace in a 3-0 win over St Étienne, bumping up her total to nine goals in the current campaign.

Another one to watch in 2025.

🇩🇪 Tight at the top in the Bundesliga

Just one point separates the top four sides over in Germany, in what is looking like a red-hot race to finish in top spot by the end of the season.

Eintracht Frankfurt kicked off the weekend with a 3-0 win over Carl Zeiss Jena, although it did take them until the 68th minute to break the deadlock against a determined defence.

The pick of the goals came from Laura Freigang, who fired in her 11th of the campaign with this perfect lob.

Over at Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg kept pace at the top with a 3-1 win, but only after a flurry of four goals in three minutes during the opening ten-minutes of the match gave the She-Wolves plenty to do.

Netherlands international Lineth Beerensteyn opened the scoring on six minutes, only for Bremen's Lara Sophie Schmidt to cancel that strike out two minutes later.

Beerensteyn then came up with the goods again on nine minutes and Wolfsburg never relinquished that lead.

Bayern's 2-0 win at home to Potsdam puts them on 29 points along with Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen.

🇮🇹 Cantore stars as Juventus assert their dominance

There was a huge clash in Serie A as leaders Juventus travelled to title challengers Fiorentina.

A win for the Viola would see them close to within three points of their Torinese rivals but it was Juve that took the lead thanks to a lightning-fast counter attack and an emphatic finish from Sofia Cantore.

Now brimming with confidence, Cantore netted again just three minutes later with another fantastic strike.

Barbara Bonansea kept a cool head to seal the victory when one-on-one with goalkeeper Cecilie Fiskerstrand in stoppage time, leaving the Bianconere seven points clear at the top of the table.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Chelsea falter at last, Man City fail to capitalise

Many thought replacing Emma Hayes at Chelsea would be an almost impossible task, but as it turned out, new boss Sonia Bompastor slipped into her shoes with ease.

It took until December 14th for the former France international to drop a single point in any competition, and it was the unlikeliest of teams that caused that halo to slip just a little bit.

Before the Blues kicked off against Leicester, the Foxes had won just one WSL game in comparison to nine from nine for Chelsea, but it was Amandine Miquel –Bompastor's compatriot –  that earned that first draw.

Here's the goal that earned the Foxes that hard-fought point.

Moving from an important goal to a breathtaking one, Brighton's Marisa Olislagers scored this stunning 82nd minute equaliser to earn a draw against Tottenham.

Manchester City failed to capitalise on Chelsea's draw as they succumbed to a 2-1 defeat against struggling Everton. City's defence looked vulnerable in the absence of injured Alex Greenwood and they ended the day six points behind Chelsea in the table. For Everton, it was a win at long last after 16 straight defeats to the Citizens.

This midweek sees the final round of UWCL group stage action, and there's some tasty clashes to look forward to. Manchester City take on Barcelona, having already beaten the Liga F leaders this season, while Arsenal face Bayern Munich and Chelsea are away at Real Madrid.
