Wolves‘ bid to bring in a replacement for Matheus Cunha, who was sold to Manchester United, is close to bearing fruit as a swoop is ‘at the final stage’.
In addition to losing Cunha, Wolves have also recently sold defender Rayan Ait-Nouri to Manchester City, further bringing in cash.
Now Wolves are preparing to splash out as they are focused on signing attacking midfielder Fer Lopez from Spanish side Celta Vigo.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Wolves’ push for Lopez is ‘at the final stage’ and they have agreed a fee with Celta Vigo.
Wolves will splash out €20m in order to take the Spaniard to Molineux.
They have already agreed a contract with the midfielder, which will run until the summer of 2030.
Lopez, 21, is a product of Celta Vigo’s youth set-up and has impressed with his performances in La Liga, convincing Wolves to move to sign him.
The attack minded midfielder broke into Celta Vigo’s first team in the second half of last season and ended the campaign with 17 La Liga outings to his name, including two goals.
He clocked the full 90 minutes away at the Bernabeu in April as Celta Vigo were just edged out 3-2 by Real Madrid.
Now Wolves boss Vitor Pereira will look to see him continue his development in the Premier League once the club have completed the remaining details of the move.
Pereira had a hugely positive impact at Wolves after he took over in the recent season and kept the Molineux club away from relegation danger, meaning a stress free end to the campaign for the supporters.
