Newcastle United have seen a second bid for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen rejected, with the Norwegian forward making clear he will not agitate for a move out of respect for his club.

Eddie Howe’s side tabled an improved £55 million offer this week after an opening bid of £50m was turned down.

Wolves maintain that the 25-year-old is not for sale this summer, with manager Vitor Pereira stressing the importance of the player to his plans.

Strand Larsen, however, is understood to be interested in the prospect of joining Newcastle and testing himself at St James’ Park.

Despite his openness to the move, he has not pushed to leave and has continued to feature for Wolves in both league and cup competitions.

The striker scored twice in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win over West Ham, coming off the bench to secure a 3-2 victory.

He has already started both of Wolves’ opening Premier League matches after his loan from Celta Vigo was made permanent in July for around €27m.

Since his arrival in England last season, Strand Larsen has scored 16 goals in 41 appearances and established himself as a reliable presence in attack.

Newcastle are searching for a replacement for Callum Wilson, who left the club earlier in the summer, and see Strand Larsen as the ideal fit.

The club are also dealing with uncertainty around Alexander Isak, who has expressed a desire to leave after interest from Liverpool.

Wolves’ position has remained consistent, with Pereira making clear that while every player has a price, Larsen isviewed as central to the team.

The Portuguese coach praised the striker’s character, highlighting his willingness to contribute in any role and his commitment to playing whenever called upon.

He also noted that Larsen’s attitude stood out compared to other players in similar situations who had refused to feature amid transfer speculation.

Newcastle’s pursuit comes after missing out on several attacking targets earlier in the window, including Hugo Ekitike, Benjamin Sesko, Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.

The Magpies face Leeds United on Saturday evening, while Wolves host Everton as they aim to claim their first league points of the season.

For now, Strand Larsen remains a Wolves player, but his future could hinge on whether Newcastle decide to return with a significantly higher offer before the transfer deadline.
