Kicker is currently confirming a Sky report regarding VfL Wolfsburg interest in Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer. The Bundesliga outfit is apparently considering the Norwegian international as a possible solution to their needs both in central defense and at right back. The Premier League veteran maintains an estimated €18m market value.
At such a price, one assumes that Germany’s green company team are aiming for a loan deal. Wolfsburg’s reported other target for their defensive needs – Metz’s Sadibou Sané – would cost less than a third of that. The Lower SaxonAutostädter have been nothing if not frugal this summer, declining to make larger purchases after spending €15m on Sheffield’s Vini Souza.
Ajer remains under contract with his London club until 2028, having last extended in November 2023. A loan deal could thus be an option. The 27-year-old has played just five of a potential 180 minutes in Brenford’s two EPL matches thus far this season. He remained unused on the bench against Nottingham Forest and made a late appearance as a time-killing sub against Aston Villa.
