A number of Arsenal players became free agents this week, with their contracts coming to an end on June 30th. Nathan Butler-Oyedeji was one of them, but he’s wasted no time in finding a new club.

On Wednesday afternoon, FC Lausanne-Sport announced the arrival of Butler-Oyedeji as a free agent, confirming that the player has signed a three-year deal to 2028.

The club also confirmed that Butler-Oyedeji will wear the number 11, and that he’ll take part in his first training session on Thursday.

Butler-Oyedeji isn’t the first Arsenal academy player to make the switch to Lausanne-Sport, with Trae Coyle also making the same move back in 2021. After three-and-a-half years at the club, Coyle left for Waterford FC in January.

22-year-old Butler-Oyedeji was in high demand following his first-team debut for Arsenal in 2024/25, with Sturm Graz and FC Copenhagen also reportedly interested in signing him.

The player spent well over a decade in north London, but it was time for him to move on to really kickstart his senior career.

“Dear Arsenal fans,” Butler-Oyedeji wrote recently. “After 14 years at this club my time at Arsenal has come to an end. I would like to thank firstly God for giving me the opportunity to realise my dream for playing for Arsenal.

“I want to extend my appreciation to the first team, my parents, all coaches, physios, chefs and cleaners and teammates I’ve worked alongside with and most importantly the life blood of the club, the fans.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me along the way through my hardships and through my good times.

“Arsenal will always hold a special place in my heart as being a boyhood Arsenal fan it was a dream come true to make my debut for the club. I will always be a part of the Arsenal family. I look forward to where my journey takes me next.”
