Ex-QPR star Marc Bircham will forever be adored by fans at Loftus Road, not only for his service to the club but for his vibrant personality
Canadian international Marc Bircham played for QPR between 2002-2007, where he became a fan favourite for his off-field antics, which still sees his name beng sung around Loftus Road to this day.
After kicking off his career with fellow London side, Milwall, which was his home for six seasons, Bircham made the move to QPR and said (via talkSPORT) it was a dream come true to play for Rangers.
During his time at QPR, Bircham cemented his role in the heart of the Rangers' midfield, being known for his defensive grit and determination for the club. That saw him be no stranger to a yellow card, and he was cautioned 38 times in 161 appearances.
Why Bircham's name still rings around the ground due to his die-hard nature for the badge.
After being most commonly remembered among QPR fans for his vibrant choice of hair colour, Bircham had a blue and white dyed streak down the centre of his hair representing the colours of Rangers, and a red and white streak when playing for his national team, Canada.
With QPR fans taking a liking to Bircham's unique nature on and off the pitch, a chant from the stands emerged with a play of words to Frankie Valli's, 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You'.
The chant goes: "We love you, Bircham, because you have got blue hair. We love you, Bircham, because you're everywhere. We love you, Bircham, because you're Rangers through and through."
After earning 17 international caps for Canada as well as helping his country win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2000, Bircham went on to enter the Guinness Book of World Records by becoming the first player to score an international goal without setting foot in his own country. His goal came on his debut after being substituted on in a fixture away to Northern Ireland.
Bircham was London-born and eligible to play for England and Wales, but opted to represent Canada.
Bircham told talkSPORT: "I came on as a sub, scored my first goal, kissed the badge - amazing."
After finalising his playing career at Yoevil Town, which came to an end in the 2008/09 season, Bircham's involvement in football was still in full swing after becoming caretaker manager at his beloved QPR alongside Steve Gallen.
His only game in charge resulted in a 2-2 away draw to West Brom in December 2009. However, his long service to the club in a playing capacity, as well as his unique hairstyle on the pitch, makes Bircham one to remember at QPR.
