An insight into the reasoning behind Real Madrid star Nacho’s decision to bid farewell to the club this coming summer has on Thursday been provided.

It is of course common knowledge that veteran defender Nacho’s career-long stint on the books of Real Madrid is set to come to a close over the months ahead.

As much was announced by way of a whole host of sources across Spain and Europe alike last month, the 34-year-old ready to allow his contract terms to expire, to move on as a free agent.

With an offer on the table from the Blancos brass, though, why is Nacho so determined to depart?

Nacho is of the opinion that, over the course of the season to date, a lack of trust in his abilities has been evidenced on the part of Carlo Ancelotti on one too many occasions.

The most recent came earlier this week, when, with Real Madrid a goal down and in need of a change, the stopper was the first player hauled off in the first leg of the capital giants’ Champions League semi-final meeting with Bayern Munich.

This only served in adding further strain to the relationship between player and manager.

‘He is happy in Madrid, the city he loves, and in the club where he has been for 23 years and currently wears the captain’s armband. But Nacho keeps his competitiveness intact and it hurts when he doesn’t play.’

For this reason, alongside the desire for a new challenge before his playing days are up, Nacho has decided to leave the Santiago Bernabéu in the rearview mirror this summer.
