Juventus will finish this Serie A weekend in fourth place no matter what the other results, because they are going to leapfrog either Atalanta or Bologna in the table.

The Bianconeri got the better of Lecce this evening with a 2-1 victory, as Dusan Vlahovic provided assists for both Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz, before the late Federico Baschirotto header.

That means Juve are now on 59 points after 32 rounds and temporarily go into third place.

However, due to the fixture list this weekend, they already know that their position at the end of this round will be in fourth spot.

Why Juventus cannot be shifted from fourth

It’s because Atalanta and Bologna go head-to-head on Sunday afternoon, kicking off at the Gewiss Stadium at 11.30 UK time (10.30 GMT).

If Atalanta win, they’ll go on to 61 points, leaving Bologna on 57.

If Bologna get the victory in Bergamo, then they will leap up to third place on 60 points and leave Atalanta on 58.

Even a draw would not prevent Juventus going into fourth, because it’d set them level with Atalanta on 59 and still ahead of Bologna on 58.

That is not all, because Lazio and Roma also go head-to-head in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday evening, so again teams in the fight for the top four will inevitably take points off each other.
