Why AC Milan got it all wrong with Boniface

Victor Boniface will not be the new Milan striker, something that had been fairly evident since Friday, but the Rossoneri got it all wrong in this situation.

When the medical tests kept on coming and there was still no all clear, it was obvious this was not going to proceed, and the confirmation came today from Bayer Leverkusen’s director of sport.

Boniface was always at risk, so why drag it out so publicly?

If we might be so bold, we’d say Milan dealt terribly with the whole thing.

Once upon a time, when dealing with players who had the long injury history of Boniface, directors would’ve ensured medical tests were performed in secret before making a definitive decision.

Instead, as far as we are concerned, Milan unfairly and pointlessly subjected the Nigerian to cameras and selfies, knowing full well the whole time that the transfer was at risk.

It would’ve been far better to proceed with caution and away from the media glare, so that it could be evaluated behind closed doors and not under the spotlights.

The ideal strategy for both Milan and the player would be silence, but they should’ve thought of that before and not afterwards. It’s a pity.
