With Prince William’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, also in attendance for the final there was speculation that she would be stood alongside the King-in-waiting.

However it was Greta who stood alongside Prince William as the players were presented with their respective medals following the Euro 2025 final.

Fans across the country were captivated as the youngster smiled and greeted all the players, but many were unsure on who she actually was.

Who is ‘Greta’ from the Euro 2025 final?

The 12-year-old has Dravet Syndrome which is a form of epilepsy. Greta was invited for the final to present the medals alongside the likes of Prince William and UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin.

“Greta is a cheerful, open-minded, and determined young girl with a great passion for sport,” UEFA said in a statement.

“Her enthusiasm, perseverance, and love of sport made her a fitting and inspiring choice to participate in the medal ceremony alongside UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.”

The special guest for England vs Spain was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome when she was just six months old.

Despite the diagnosis, Portugal-born Greta has remained positive throughout her early life – something that was clear from her beaming smile throughout the ceremony.

Greta herself spoke about the enthralling experience, in a statement released after the final: “I was nervous at first, but then I saw the players smiling at me. It felt like I was part of their team.”

What is the UEFA Foundation?

Greta was invited to watch England and Spain fight out the final by the UEFA Foundation.

The UEFA Foundation officially launched in 2015 and is a charitable organisation that aims to support young people struggling with difficult conditions or challenges.

It’s mission is centred around football with the sport used to provide positive awareness around disabilities like that of Greta.

As well as raising awareness for those with disabilities, the foundation also gives opportunities to those who are less fortunate and love football.
