Inter stars Lautaro Martinez and Nicolò Barella are the most valuable Serie A players, according to Transfermarkt.

Defending Serie A champions Inter have the two most valuable players in the league as of December 2024.

According to the specialised website Transfermarkt, Lautaro is worth €110m in the market, while his teammate’s value is €80m.

It’s the same evaluation as Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Milan’s Rafael Leao is just below at €75m.

The battle between Inter and Napoli stars at the top of the ranking reflects the Serie A title race, with the Nerazzurri and the Partenopei competing with Atalanta for the top spot after the opening rounds. The race for the Scudetto will be one of the most exciting in Europe this season, and fans are trying to guess the 2024-25 winner even on pay by phone betting sites.

Lautaro was last season’s top scorer in Serie A, and he achieved the same in the Copa America, winning the trophy with his national team, Argentina.

Despite his impressive individual and team results, Lautaro didn’t make the top 5 at the Ballon d’Or and didn’t hide his discontent at the end of October.

“These awards are unfair sometimes, but I am happy with the work I am doing. I am getting back in shape,” the Argentinean said.

“As you know, I started the pre-season later after a long campaign. I didn’t rest much and played a lot, so it’s normal to be tired. But we all try to do our best, and we must continue because the season is still long.”

Lack of recognition for their best player last season also upset Inter after Lautaro was not among the nominees for The Best FIFA Awards.

“Lautaro deserves more respect and recognition from FIFA,” said Inter President Marotta.

“This exclusion doesn’t only seem to ignore the numbers and successes but also the impact he had in crucial games.”

Another Inter star, Alessandro Bastoni, is in the top 10 for the most valuable Serie A players.

According to Transfermarkt, the Italian defender’s worth is €70m, just €5m more than his Inter teammate Marcus Thuram and Juventus star striker Dusan Vlahovic.

Milan’s Theo Hernandez and Juvetus’ Gleison Bremer are the joint-8th most valuable Serie A players  – €60m each – while Douglas Luiz and Teun Koopmeiners, also under contract with Juventus, are currently worth €55m each and make the top 10.

The Juventus midfielders have been struggling to justify their price tags at the Allianz Stadium in the opening stages of the campaign, but they are still worth €5m more than USMNT star Christian Pulisic and Inter’s Federico Dimarco, probably not for long.
