An insight into the predicted knock-on effect of Toni Kroos’ impending departure from Real Madrid on the club’s squad numbers has this evening been forthcoming.
Midfielder Kroos has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines across not only Spain, but all of Europe across the day to date.
This comes after the 34-year-old announced his decision to call time on his legendary playing career following Germany’s campaign at Euro 2024 this summer.
Despite long-term efforts on the part of the Real Madrid brass to tie their engine room lynchpin down to fresh terms, Kroos has concluded that the time is right to hang up his boots.
Chatter, in turn, has since spread like wildfire regarding a whole host of topics at the Santiago Bernabéu.
And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, the subject of Real Madrid’s jersey numbers was added to the list.
Kroos’ exit will see the no.8 shirt open up in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, one which a number of Blancos stars will no doubt have their sights on.
As per a report from Onda Cero’s Real Madrid insider Alberto Pereiro, though, an immediate front-runner has already emerged in the race for the eight kit.
The player in question? Federico Valverde.
