West Ham have opened talks with Nottingham Forest over a deal to sign Taiwo Awoniyi.
Graham Potter has said West Ham will look to bring in reinforcements this month, due to depleted options in the forward line.
Niclas Fullkrug sustained a serious hamstring issue in the FA Cup exit at Aston Villa last week and joins Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio on the sidelines.
Those absences leave the out-of-favour Danny Ings as the only available forward in the squad. Sky Sports are now reporting that talks have now started with Nottingham Forest over a deal to bring Awoniyi to the London Stadium.
The Nigeria international has started just twice in the Premier League this season, due to the form of Chris Wood at the City Ground.
His time with Forest has been punctuated by injury problems across the last two-and-a-half seasons but the 27-year-old boasts a respectable record of 16 goals in 31 league starts for the club.
Awoniyi previously impressed in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin and scored 20 goals in 43 games for the German side during the 2021/22 campaign. It is unclear whether West Ham are targeting a loan deal or permanent transfer for the forward at this stage.
