Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports News reports: “Celtic reject West Ham United’s improved bid for forward Daniel Cummings. West Ham will now prioritise finalising pre-contract agreement for the summer. Celtic will be due £350,000 once pre-contract completed.”
The academy breakout star has been eyeing up a move away from the club during the transfer window and the English Premier League side have made their moves to bring the attacker to London. However no agreement has been reached as Celtic as things stand with retain the player until at least the summer.
The player had been urged by Brendan Rodgers to listen to the club about his development and be patient in the longer term, but that seems to have fallen on deaf ears and Daniel Cummings will now follow the likes of Ben Doak, Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata in heading down the road to learn his trade.

Cummings had been one who the Celtic supporters had hoped would be different from the rest and stay the course for the foreseeable future.
His goals in the UEFA Youth League against strong opposition had been a really promising sign that Daniel could finally be the striker from our academy that we have all yearned for over the years, following a substantial downturn in prolific hitmen from the youth teams in the modern-era at Parkhead.

However, it’s not to be and the young Scot will look to join Graham Potter’s team if not this window, then certainly in the summer transfer window, where Sky Sports have confirmed the Hammers will wait to if this next offer for Cummings is booted out by the Hoops.
It’s a shame as you never like to see young and aspiring talent leave the gates at Celtic Park. It’s pertinent to remember though that few, if any, go on to achieve greater success than they would have otherwise, if they had stayed and played for the famous green and white hoops.
Celtic not taking the extra £150k is perhaps an indication of uncertainty surrounding the pursuit of a replacement for Kyogo who left the club last week to join French side Rennes.
