‘We Like Him A Lot’ – Daniel Farke Makes Admission On Leeds United Talent | OneFootball

Daniel Farke has stressed that Leeds United starlet Sam Chambers is a player with dynamism and intensity, but added that he has to work on his off-the-ball abilities.

The 17-year-old midfielder is a product of Leeds academy system and on Saturday, Farke handed him his first senior start against Millwall in the FA Cup.

Farke utilised Chambers as a winger against Millwall and he featured for 70 minutes in Leeds’ 2-0 defeat.

Farke pointed out that he used the attacking midfielder in a winger role, as he believes that it is easy for a young player like Chambers to step up to senior level in a winger position rather than being in the heart of midfield.

The Leeds boss added that the youngster showed dynamism and intensity but highlighted that Chambers needs to work on his fitness level and off-the-ball abilities.

“He has also played in a more central role, but especially for a young player it’s a bit easier to come into the first-team on the wing, rather than in the heart of the game”, Farke said at a press conference.

“He needs to work on his fitness level a bit more.

“For that I think the early stages in his Leeds United career, it makes sense to use him in this position.

“He has good dynamic and intensity with his runs.

“He has to learn a lot against the ball, we’re working at this.

“He’s still growing and developing.

“We like him a lot, it was not a gift that he was in the starting line-up.”

Chambers has made two appearances for Leeds so far this season and now it remains to be seen whether he will be in the Whites matchday squad for Tuesday.
