Celtic’s interest in Danish attacker Jakob Breum shows no sign of slowing, but Go Ahead Eagles remain firm in their valuation of the talented attacker. However, there has been an interesting development coming out of the Netherlands overnight.

The Eredivisie side has now rejected three offers from Celtic, with the latest—reportedly worth around £3 million—still falling short of the club’s expectations.

Speaking on the matter on Dutch TV last night, Go Ahead Eagles director Jan Willem van Dop confirmed that negotiations have taken place, and while there is a willingness to sell, any transfer must meet the club’s financial terms.

“Then he had a second question, and that was about Jakob Breum,” Van Dop told Dutch media, via FC Twente Fans forum

“You can talk about that, but as long as the price is right. And we couldn’t figure that out. What I did find positive: his thoughts were at least above the official offer that Celtic once made. That was 1.5 million euros. Jan’s train of thought was higher.”

The interesting development in this one however, is that Van Dop also revealed that Breum’s agent has been in contact, pushing for a deal with Celtic to go ahead, and it seems Go Ahead Eagles won’t stand in the way of the player’s wishes IF they get the price they are after –

“I have indicated to Celtic that we will not go along with the offer that they have made,” he said. “I had Breum’s agent on the phone on Monday morning, who hopes he will go that way.”

“We are really not the most difficult club, but it has to fit. And if we can’t work it out financially, then we also have the right to say: well, then it’s not going to happen.”

Breum, 21, has been turning heads with his performances in the Eredivisie, and Celtic clearly view him as a potential addition to bolster their attacking options. Despite the setbacks, it is likely Celtic remain interested, with the player’s camp also hopeful a deal can still be struck.

For now, the ball is in Celtic’s court. Should they return with an improved offer that meets Go Ahead Eagles’ valuation, the path appears clear for Breum to make the switch to Glasgow.

Until then, the Dutch club is standing firm, signalling they won’t be pressured into selling one of their prized assets below value.

With the player seemingly keen on the move and his agent pushing for a deal to be struck, and his club showing a willingness to sell –for the right fee – this is surely a deal we can get concluded with a sensible offer.
