Warren Zaïre-Emery: 'It's a dream that I am living with my club' | OneFootball

At just 18 years old, young prodigy Warren Zaïre-Emery expresses his happiness and pride at extending his journey with Paris Saint-Germain, his boyhood club. Excerpts from his interview on PSGTV!

Hello Warren! Congratulations on this contract extension. Tell us a little about how you are feeling?

I am very happy and proud to have signed my contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain until 2029. It's a huge source of pride for me to continue the journey with my boyhood club, the one I've always wanted to play for since I was a child. I arrived at the age of eight, and I've been here for 10 years now.

From a young age, with my family, we have been watching Paris Saint-Germain matches, and I have always loved this club. I have always supported the club and now I have been wearing the shirt for over a year and a half. I am very proud.

I imagine that this is an excellent show of confidence for you from the club?

It's true that as a Titi, over all these years, I've always been given confidence. And I think that now, more than ever before, the club is giving the young players even more confidence, and I'm very happy that it continues with this contract extension.

The youth academy, the first professional contract, the first minutes on the pitch, the first starts... What you're experiencing is almost the dream career for a Titi!

Sure, every young football player would love to have this trajectory. I'm lucky and I'm aware of it. But I've also worked hard for it. Now, I hope things continue like this. But I'm only 18, so I hope it's just the beginning of great things with the club.

When you see the messages from the supporters, the love they have for you, it's also something exceptional...

It's true that the supporters always there for us, they follow us away from home, and we try to repay them as best we can by giving our all on the pitch. And what they do for me is just extraordinary. Every time, even when I go to sing with them or when I score a goal, I hear my name... It puts a smile on my face and it makes me want to keep doing what I do. When they chant for me, they give everything. So when I play for them, I give everything...

This year, we also felt that the team was being built around a very strong spirit. Was that also something that motivated your choice?

It's true that the club evolves every year, and as the years go by, we become one of the biggest clubs in the world. We have the best young players, and we'll try to continue that in the future. But it's also because the club and the management give us confidence. We all get along well and we try to all move in the same direction. And I think that's what will lead to our best performances on the field.

We also see the confidence of a coach who, from the beginning, said that age would not matter to him. It's definitely gratifying!

It's true that the coach doesn't take age into account. What matters to him are performances, training. If you're good, you'll play. Even in his management style, and he knows it well, he instills confidence in everyone. He's just an extraordinary coach.

What are you expecting now with PSG?

To win all the trophies we can. And this year, we're fortunate to still be in contention across all competitions. Personally, I want to stay at Paris Saint-Germain for as long as possible.

Ultimately, what comes through from your words is the love that you have for this club...

Definitely. I've always lived in Paris, my entire family is in Paris, and I feel at home at this club. I feel good here and I hope to spend my entire career here. Since I was little, with my family, my parents, I've always watched Paris Saint-Germain. It's a club I wanted to play for when I was little, and now for the past two years... It's a dream come true for me with my club. And I hope it continues for as long as possible because it's truly the club I love and where I want to play for as long as I can.
