Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic is delighted that the team stuck to the plan even after Michele Di Gregorio received a straight red card against RB Leipzig and insists the Bianconeri ‘deserved’ to win in Germany tonight.

The Serbia international inspired Juventus’ 3-2 win in Leipzig with a superb brace on Wednesday, and it was even more impressive because the Serie A giants were reduced to ten men for more than 30 minutes.

“I am so happy, especially for the team and what we did. We played down to 10 men for almost 45 minutes,” Vlahovic told Amazon Prime Video.

“We proved we are a team. We fought together, as the coach wanted, and we continued pressing. I think we deserved to win. It was a fantastic game, and luckily we won it.”

Former Juventus stars Fernando Llorente, Luca Toni and Claudio Marchisio were among the Amazon Pundits tonight, and Toni received the Vlahovic shirt as a gift after the match.

“This is your merit,” Vlahovic told Toni, smiling.

“We met last week, and I’ve scored two braces since then. You must come more often! The important thing is that we won. We must become accustomed to this level and improve our shape.

“We never gave up, and we continued pressing,” continued Vlahovic.

“The plan was to press high, recover the ball quickly and go for the goal. Credit to my teammates and the coach for how he prepared for the game. Hopefully we can continue like this.”

Vlahovic is the current Serie A leading scorer alongside Christian Pulisic, Patrick Cutrone, Mateo Retegui and Marcus Thuram, with four goals in six appearances.

Juventus’ next Serie A match is against Cagliari at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday, October 6.

The Serie A giants currently sit second in the Serie A table, with 12 points in six matches, one below Napoli.

They have six points in two Champions League games.
