AC Milan’s preseason gets underway in less than one week, and a journalist has highlighted two aspects above all that will be interesting to see.

Although Paulo Fonseca’s appointment as the new head coach was made official some time ago there has still been no real insight from the manager or the club regarding the plans and the project, even if June does tend to be a quieter month.

The Portuguese will arrive at Milanello – alongside the majority of his team – on July 8, except for any players that remain at the European Championship. Next week serves as a chance for the former Lille boss and the squad to get to know each other, and July will be a crucial month in that sense.

Antonio Vitiello published a column for MilanNews which began with some considerations on next Monday’s ‘raduno’, i.e. the start of a very important preseason.

“The new season starts in less than a week. The 2024-25 season officially kicks off on Monday 8 July with the gathering at Milanello and it will be interesting to observe two things in particular,” he began.

“[The first is] The atmosphere at the training complex, so how the fans will welcome the team and the new coach, and then how Fonseca will present himself to the Milanese world.

“In the first case we register disappointment from the Milanese faithful for the lack of reinforcements (up to now), while as far as the Portuguese coach is concerned, he will have to be convincing from the very beginning to fight against the distrust towards him.”
