Villarreal eyeing summer deal for Chelsea star | OneFootball

La Liga outfit Villarreal have identified a member of the defensive ranks at Premier League giants Chelsea as a leading summer transfer target.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Axel Disasi as the player in question.

Securing reinforcements at the back has emerged as something of a priority behind the scenes at Villarreal over recent days.

This comes after the Yellow Submarine were dealt a heavy blow, upon Logan Costa suffering a torn ACL during a pre-season meeting with Basel.

Already on the lookout for fresh blood even prior to as much, the board at La Ceràmica have in turn ramped up their efforts to bring in a new defender.

And as alluded to above, amid this search, one name has this week made its way to the top of Villarreal’s shortlist.

As per a report from MD:

‘Marcelino has his favourite. Chelsea player Axel Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He’s become the perfect option for what the Yellow Submarine is looking for.’

The issue in any deal for the Frenchman is the fee involved, with Chelsea seeking €25-30 million, and Villarreal for the time being only willing to commit to a loan.
