Chelsea and Liverpool have also been linked with prolific Swedish striker, who is expected to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer

Viktor Gyokeres insists there has still been no decision made on his club future amid ongoing transfer links to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United.

The prolific Sporting Lisbon striker’s next move is among the biggest topics of a unique two-window summer due to the Club World Cup, with an exit from the Estadio Jose Alvalade seemingly now considered almost a certainty.

Arsenal have been most strongly linked with Gyokeres over recent months but are rumoured to now be prioritising RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko instead, while United are also said to be pursuing him and the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea also linked.

However, talk of Barcelona interest in the 26-year-old was recently dismissed publicly by sporting director Deco, who insisted the LaLiga champions are not in the market for a new centre-forward this summer with Robert Lewandowski at the club and still thriving at almost 37.

Gyokeres has pulled out of the Sweden squad for upcoming friendlies against Hungary and Algeria due to what the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) described as a “minor injury”, and he remained tight-lipped on his future when quizzed by former Coventry team-mate Leo Ostigard on a recent appearance on the Flymodus podcast.

"Where are you going in the summer transfer window? Can you give us a hint? Is it Arsenal? What are the alternatives?" Ostigard asked after video-calling Gyokeres.

Gyokeres replied: "We will see. Nobody knows anything yet. I wish I had a more fun answer, but that's all I can say for now."

At the end of the conversation, Ostigard said: “Viktor, great talking to you. See you soon, and text me when everything is signed and sorted down in Arsenal."

Gyokeres then replied in jest: "Yeah, yeah. Sure!"

Arsenal are on the lookout for a statement striker signing this summer as they finally look to end their title drought next season after back-to-back second-place finishes, with many believing that they are currently weighing up a straight choice between Gyokeres and Sesko, with dream target Alexander Isak of Newcastle viewed as out of reach as things stand.

United, meanwhile, are attempting to rebuild their entire attack after a torrid campaign in which they finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final, having already completed the £62.5million signing of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves and now also expected to enter into talks with Brentford over Bryan Mbeumo, who is said to want a move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils - who got a huge boost on Tuesday with the news that influential captain Bruno Fernandes has rejected a lucrative switch to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia - missed out to Champions League-bound Chelsea on Ipswich frontman Liam Delap, whose £30m switch to Stamford Bridge should be announced soon.

Former Brighton striker Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry for almost £20m in 2023 and has scored 97 goals and registered 28 assists in 102 total appearances so far, winning back-to-back Primeira Liga titles - including under current United boss Ruben Amorim last season - as well as this term’s Portuguese domestic double. He is expected to have an asking price of at least £67m this summer.

Gyokeres - who scored 54 times in 52 club outings this season alone - also has 15 goals to date in 26 senior caps for Sweden, where he plays up front in a high-profile pairing with Isak.
