(Video): “I’m not taking credit!” – Ashley Cole explains his part in the rise of Chelsea’s new star | OneFootball

Ashley Cole has been speaking to TNT Sport this week, and of course they had to get his take on the progress rise of Cole Palmer, currently the only man holding Cole’s old club Chelsea together.

His namesake is on a meteoric rise, and while their paths have crossed at England youth level, Cole quickly batted away any suggestion that he was really involved with Palmer’s sudden success.

“I’m certainly not taking any credit,” he joked, but did reveal that his role as an assistant with that team was to work with these talented kids and try to impart “little nuggets” to help them.

Certainly a player who was the very best in the world as a left back can help out an attacker who plays mainly on the right wing. He will be able to tell Palmer what defenders don’t want to see in that situation.
