New Milan coach Paulo Fonseca conducted his first training session in charge of the club on Monday.

It was a busy day for the Portuguese tactician, as he also took part in his first press conference as part of his official unveiling on Monday.

Milan’s training session was open to members of the media, as well as a handful of Rossoneri supporters. The team were also paid a visit by club legend Franco Baresi at one point.

As part of his first session, Fonseca had his players take part in a brief internal 11v11, and had one side playing in a recognisable 4-2-3-1 shape and the other in a more traditional 4-4-2.

Not every Milan player was involved in today’s session, as some are still away with their international sides at EURO 2024, including France goalkeeper Mike Maignand and compatriot Theo Hernandez.

Tijjani Reijnders is still away with the Netherlands, and Christian Pulisic has not yet returned from Copa America duty with the United States. Others have been given extended breaks following their involvement with their respective international sides.

Milan have four pre-season friendlies lined up, including a test against Rapid Wien on July 20, and they will also jet off for a tour of the United States, where they will face Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona as part of the Soccer Champions Tour.

The Rossoneri will begin the Serie A campaign with a visit from Torino on August 17, currently scheduled for a 17.45 kick-off (UK time).
