Enzo Maresca has just taken his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s Friday night game against West Ham.

There was a lot of transfer talk to get through, but also some important injury news.

Tosin Adarabioyo missed last week’s game against Crystal Palace with a problem picked up the day before the game. It hadn’t seemed too serious, and as expected Enzo Maresca revealed that the centre-back would be fit to play against the Hammers tomorrow night.

He also had a little joke with Simon Johnson who had asked him about Tosin’s fitness, hinting at dressing room leaks which meant the journalists all knew about Chelsea’s injury news before Maresca had a chance to tell them.

“Tosin available for tomorrow. I’m a little bit surprised because last he week he was not available and it was everywhere [in the media] that he was not available… now I don’t know why you don’t know that he’s available!”

“I’ve been on holiday,” Johnson replied drily.

Maresca reiterated that he was “surprised” by the leaks.

It’s all in good spirits, but he’s targeted the right man. As one of the longest serving on the Chelsea beat, Johnson is always well plugged in with connections in the dressing room, and probably plenty of the staff members at Cobham who stick around even as players and coaches come and go.

We wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was him who first got the whispers about Tosin’s issue last week.

Let’s hope the leaks are limited to injury news – it’s all fun and games until things turn nasty.
