Dundee were more than up for the fight and for all our pleasing on the eye play and passing in the first half, we weren’t ruthless enough and allowed the Dens Park outfit a route back into the game through weak defending yet again. Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo were the sinners each missing a golden opportunity as Celtic dominated the opening 40 minutes and looked in no danger at all
The left side of the defence is somewhat of a concern just now and Auston Trusty really hasn’t covered himself in glory with that display, it must be said.

The USA international was far too soft for the Dundee goals and the third in particular was quite disgraceful for a guy of his stature. He was on the ground a few moments before the headed goal from Donnelly, rolling around because his foot had been stood on, and that is unbecoming for a Celtic centre-half.
He had the height advantage over the young Irishman and should have headed that away to safety but instead made a meal of it and was outfought and outmuscled by the Dundee man. Fair play to Donnelly, as he had Trusty’s number at the set-piece and made the Celtic defender rue his weakness in the duel and put him and the Parkhead side to the sword on the night.
Sky Sports Scotland caught the Hoops boss, Brendan Rodgers’ reaction to that third Dundee goal and it’s safe to say, he was less than impressed – putting it mildly.

The Carnlough native was visibly irritated and in disbelief at the poor effort and inability of Trusty to handle the situation, and could be seen bemoaning it in an expletive groan on the touchline whilst the Dundee players celebrated like mad.
