The Englishman was given the nod to start for the second match in a row and it paid off for Sergio Conceicao.

Straight after the restart, the Rossoneri held possession for 90 seconds before breaking the deadlock at San Siro, as Alex Jimenez rolled across for Youssouf Fofana, a lucky ricochet turned into an assist that the striker pounced upon.

The centre-forward had already scored in the Derby della Madonnina back in January, when Milan completed the comeback from 2-0 down to beat Inter 3-2 and win the Supercoppa Italiana in Riyadh.

His celebration also suggests there is good news for the Abraham family, which is going to expand in 2025.

The second leg of this semi-final will be at San Siro on April 23.
