Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart have reached a verbal agreement with Nürnberg midfielder Casper Jander.
Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, as well as head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, held a call with the midfielder recently. While Stuttgart have also informed the Franken side that they would like to sign the Germany under-21 midfielder.
It was previously reported that the fee for Jander could be between €7-8.5m, as he has a contract at Nürnberg until 2028.
The midfielder joined Nürnberg last summer from Duisburg on a free transfer. The 22-year-old went on to make 34 appearances, scoring three and assisting nine.
This will be the second transfer between Nürnberg and Stuttgart this year, as Finn Jeltsch also moved west in the winter window and played a role in Stuttgart’s DFB-Pokal win back in May. Jander’s arrival will also be the midfield option that Stuttgart have reportedly been searching for to challenge Atakan Karazor and Angelo Stiller in the midfield.
After the arrival of Noah Darvich from Barcelona and the likely arrival of Jander, Stuttgart continue to show they are one of the most interesting projects in the league.
