In a recent video on his Youtube channel, renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano offered an update on Tottenham Hotspur and their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho. Romano said,
“Tottenham message is that they will be prepared to improve their bid for Savinho, so they are prepared to go over 70 million euros.
“Let’s see if this is going to be enough to convince Manchester City or not. Man City rejected first 50 million euros, then Tottenham improved the bid verbally, not with an official proposal, and City said no, let’s not even send an official bid because we don’t want to sell the player, we want Savinho to stay.
“So as I told you in the recent days, Man City have been blocking the deal, the hierarchy of Manchester City saying no to that opportunity, but let’s follow the situation of Savinho until the end of the window, because at the moment it’s still a no from Manchester City, but Tottenham want to go over 70 million euros.”
Savinho put in a string of impressive displays for the Mancunian giants in the previous campaign. The 21-year-old featured in 48 matches for Man City last season, scoring three times and earning 13 assists on all fronts.
The Brazilian talent deserves a ton of credit for averaging 2.80 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 38.2% of his attempts on target. Savinho was even tidy when distributing the ball in the final third after making 80.8% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2029. Hence, Tottenham would have no choice but to meet Man City’s demands if they want to sign the Brazilian playmaker in this transfer window.
Savinho is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can make a few driving runs with it in the final third. He can shoot the ball with venom from long range and has got the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates to score. The Brazilian sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also function as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if asked to do so.
We can expect Savinho to add more firepower to Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank’s attack. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at the North London club in the coming seasons.
At 21, Savinho has the potential to be a future star in English football. Thus, he would be an excellent option for Spurs to consider for the long run.
