Unlikely hero: keeper Volpi celebrates penalty goal in Grêmio draw

A goalkeeper was the main protagonist at Maracanã this Sunday. With a miraculous save in the first half and a penalty goal at the end of the second, Tiago Volpi ended up as the hero of the draw between Flamengo and Grêmio, 1-1, in the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship.

“I’m happy, I thank God for the opportunity to be here and to be able to take a penalty and score, my first during regular play,” celebrated the goalkeeper in an interview with Globo.

“I also thank Mano, because it can’t be easy for him to let the goalkeeper take a penalty at this stage,” he added.
