Chelsea are advancing in talks on personal terms with Xavi Simons according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have already signed three attackers in Liam Delap, Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens, but the possibility of another attacker arriving was never ruled out.
Chelsea are still in the market for a left sided defender to provide back-up for Marc Cucurella, whilst another centre back arriving remains a possibility.
The Blues have revamped their attack this summer, and Estevao Willian will also arrive after a deal was agreed with Palmeiras last summer.
Chelsea are said to want eight or nine attacking options in their squad to rotate between next season, and with Noni Madueke joining Arsenal, and Christopher Nkunku and Joao Felix both set to leave, there’s room for one more.
The Blues had been linked with Mohammed Kudus and Hugo Ekitike before they joined Tottenham and Liverpool respectively.

However, Chelsea have identified Simons as the man to improve their attack, and the 22-year-old is open to making the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Leipzig are thought to want around €65m for Simons, and Romano has now provided an update on the deal.
He took to X.com and said:
“Understand Chelsea are advancing in talks with Xavi Simons on personal terms!
“Xavi, keen on the move and open to joining Chelsea… direct talks in progress to agree contract details and terms.

Simons can play both on the left and as a number ten making him a good fit for Enzo Maresca’s system, and the Dutch international scored 11 goals and registered eight assists in 33 appearances last season.
Whilst a deal for Simons is advancing, Nkunku is heading towards the exit door after two difficult seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Bayern Munich and Manchester United are interested in the France international, who scored just three Premier League goals last season.
Chelsea are said to have dropped their asking price to £43.3m having asked for in excess of £60m in January, but no official bids have come in yet.
