Leeds United moved to five points clear at the top of the Championship table after beating Sheffield United 3-1 at Bramall Lane on Monday night.

The Whites’ goalkeeper, Illan Meslier, has this bad habit of making silly errors in big games. This time, he palmed the ball into his net to give the Blades an early lead.

Leeds improved after the break and levelled the tie when Junior Firpo produced a thumping header from Dan James’ cross.

The Whites turned their game around in the final few minutes. Ao Tanaka scored in the 89th minute, and Joel Piroe sealed the tie in Leeds’ favour with a thunderbolt strike from 20 yards out.

The Yorkshire Post were left impressed by the performance of Manor Solomon. They have him a 7/10 rating.

The newspaper wrote: “[Solomon] looked the biggest threat as the first half for on, quieter in the second.”

It was a monumental win for Leeds and they are now in the driving seat to secure an automatic promotion to the Premier League.

There is still a lot of time left in the season, and the Whites must not repeat the same mistakes as they did last season, when they ran out of steam and ideas towards the end.

The Whites have shown great character to win back-to-back games after coming from behind. Leeds defeated Sunderland at home last week after going down.

Daniel Farke’s side are unbeaten in 16 Championship games, and they are seven points ahead of third-placed Burnley.

Solomon was superb during the game and got two good scoring opportunities towards the end of the first half. Farke was in the stands as he was serving a one-match ban, and he will be really pleased with this effort.
