Udinese manager Kosta Runjaic realizes his team has a tough task ahead as they’ll be hosting Inter Milan on Saturday.
The German tactician enjoyed a splendid start to his maiden experience in Serie A. His team was leading the Serie A table after Round 4.
However, the Zebrette fell off their perch following a heavy defeat at the hands of Roma last weekend. Nevertheless, they remain third in the table behind Torino and Napoli.
Moreover, they reached the Coppa Italia Round of 16 with a 3-1 win over Salernitana last night.
The Friulians will now turn their attention to their next meeting against Inter. They will host the reigning Italian champions at the Bluenergy Stadium on Saturday.
Therefore, Runjaic is counting on his players to bounce back from their defeat in Rome, even though they’ll be up against another formidable opponent.
“Last weekend, we against a strong, quality team. They deserved to win,” admitted the 53-year-old in his post-match press conference following the win over Salernitana (via FcInterNews).
“That match served as a learning process. We are still a bit far from the level we want to reach, we need time.
“We are working hard and on Saturday’s clash, as we will have another important match.
“I know that the encounter will be difficult against Inter, but we have to recover our strength and then we hope on Saturday we can play better than in Rome, counting on the support of our fans.”
On another note, Runjaic fears his midfielder Martin Payero could be out for a considerable period after sustaining what appears to be a serious injury.
“We are disappointed about Payero’s injury, it seems like a serious one. He was feeling great pain. I saw him briefly at half-time, he was crying.
“I hope he can recover soon, I wish him all the best and we will be by his side. It’s part of the game.”
