Two penalties condemn Girona against Olympique (2-0) | OneFootball

Girona lost to Olympique de Marseille (2-0) in their third pre-season friendly, played this Saturday in Encamp, as part of the Air Cup. After the victories against Olot and Espanyol, which won the Copa Catalunya, Míchel's side saw their winning streak come to an end today against a French side who were very effective from 11 metres out.

The match was intense despite being a warm-up game, but it was decided by two specific actions: two penalties. The first, quite controversial, came at the end of the first half, when Greenwood fell in the box after an individual action and the referee awarded a penalty. The former Getafe player converted to put Marseille ahead.

At the restart, and with changes in both teams, Girona tried to react, with good minutes from players like Joel Roca, Papa or Asprilla. However, the second penalty, caused by Gouiri and again taken by the striker himself, sealed the game.
