AC Milan have not yet made their choice regarding the new sporting director, with Igli Tare on stand-by after the meeting earlier in the week.

As Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, after seeing Fabio Paratici slip away it seemed as though Tare was the man in line for the job, especially after the meeting a few days ago in Rome with the CEO Giorgio Furlani.

However, the Rossoneri are taking their time because they evidently wants to evaluate other profiles such as Tony D’Amico, the current sporting director of Atalanta who will arrive at San Siro on Sunday for the match against the Diavolo.

The fact that Tare has been put on stand-by suggests that another name is at the top of Milan and Furlani’s list, namely D’Amico, who was identified by several sources as the CEO’s favourite when he began the process.

However, it won’t be easy to convince Atalanta to let him leave because he has a contract until 2027 and is absolutely central to the Bergamo club’s project. This is even after John Murtough – the former Manchester United director – entered the sporting area as Director of Global Development.

Despite this, Furlani does not want to give up and wants to try seriously. It could be the case that Sunday’s match at San Siro could be the right occasion for a contact with Percassi to test the waters and understand if there is the chance of snatching him.

In addition to his profile and that of Tare, those of Giovanni Manna of Napoli and Giovanni Sartori of Bologna are also still in the running, but both seem intent on staying where they are.
