AS Roma are considering asking AC Milan to allow Alexis Saelemaekers to remain in the capital, and to do so, they could include former Rossonero Bryan Cristante.
The two clubs were last involved in business at the end of the summer mercato, when Tammy Abraham arrived at Milan with Saelemaekers heading the other way, with both deals being loans. Already there have been talks about the future for both players, but the Roman side are certainly more interested in keeping the winger than the Rossoneri keeping Abraham.
To keep some security in the deal, the Diavolo extended Saelemaekers’ deal until 2027 before he left on loan, primarily to increase his value, but also as a sign of faith in case there was a place for him when he returned from loan.
With interest in keeping Abraham debatable, a straight swap there, or a swap involving him is less possible. However, there could be other avenues explored, and there have already been suggestions that Milan could look at Cristante with an agent proposing the idea.
In addition to this, the Giallorossi are considering offering Cristante in a deal for Saelemaekers, according to Tuttosport (via Milan News). It is believed that the inclusion of the midfielder could be ‘the right move to retain’ the winger.
Despite not being a ‘RedBird player’, the midfielder could be a vital addition, and given he helps the squad list – even as an academy player – it could unlock a few things for the club.
