Along with Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez is one of two Real Madrid veterans who are set to leave the club this summer.
Vazquez’s contract at Real Madrid expires at the end of June 30, but the club have secured a short-term extension so that the veteran can play out the entirety of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Vazquez has had no shortage of suitors either, with multiple clubs lining up to try and sign the veteran on a free transfer this summer.
According to prominent Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Fenerbahce have become the latest club to join the race to sign Vazquez.
As per the journalist, the Turkish giants, managed by Jose Mourinho, have enquired about the availability of Vazquez.
The club are eyeing a Bosman move for the veteran Spaniard, who has interestingly never worked with the Portuguese tactician.

Lucas was playing for Real Madrid’s youth teams during Mourinho’s stint as Real Madrid coach between 2010 and 2013.
Mourinho, of course, may have had some idea about Lucas as a promising young talent back then. Now, though, he has built quite the legacy for himself, with a total of 400 appearances for the club.
Mourinho is well aware of the versatility and experience Vazquez can offer to the table at Fenerbahce and is, therefore, keen on acquiring his services this summer.
During his time in charge of the Turkish outfit, Mourinho has already convinced many big name stars to come to Fenerbahce including Allan Saint-Maximin, Sofyan Amrabat and Youssef En Nesyri.
There is no reason why Lucas Vazquez can’t become the next big signing for Fenerbahce, although it will be interesting to see whether or not the Spaniard gets tempted by offers from elsewhere, including the MLS and the Saudi league.
